BE HAPPY ZONE
By Lionel Ketchian

We have another wonderful announcement for you. Bob Nozik, M.D. has generously made his 12 Happiness Keys from his book: Happy 4 Life: Here’s How to Do It, free to you. Read these happiness keys in this book, practice what you learn and you are on your way to being happy. Go to www.happinessclub.com look under the "books" section at the top of the screen and download the book for yourself, and tell your family and friends to do the same. We will have it available for you soon.

Many famous and wonderful authors have endorsed Dr. Nozik's book. Some of these people are Richard Carlson, author of Don't Sweat the Small Stuff, Gerald G. Jampolsky, M.D., author of Love Is Letting Go of Fear, and Rick Foster, co-author with Greg Hicks of the book Choosing Brilliant Health. As you can see, endorsements from people like these are speak volumes because each of these authors are renowned happiness experts.

Dr Nozik says, "Attributing our problems and setbacks to outside forces gives away our power."

You will find the 12 Happiness Keys very useful in helping you understand happiness. They are 1) Conscious Awareness, 2) Self-like/Self-love, 3) Self-esteem, 4) Appreciation/Gratitude, 5) Acceptance, 6) Responsible Adulthood, 7) Non-Judgment, 8) Pollyanna’s Game, 9) Handling Mistakes, 10) Individuality, 11) Perfection, 12) Present Moment Living.

I have had the good fortune of knowing Dr. Bob Nozik for a number of years. Aymee Coget, who started the first Happiness Club in California, introduced me to him. Bob started the Diablo Valley Happiness Club in Lafayette, CA about three years ago. We have become good friends and communicate by phone and e-mail frequently.

Bob Nozik says: "I want you to know about two very different kinds of happiness and understand the ways in which they differ. The first is called "Subjective Well-Being" by Positive Psychology and "Hedonic Happiness" by the ancient Greeks. We all experience this type of happiness every day as joyful bursts of emotion coming from pleasurable or favorable circumstances. Hedonic Happiness is relatively brief in duration and comes to us from things and events outside of ourselves.

The second kind of happiness occurs so much less frequently that it is accurate to say it is rarely encountered in the human experience. This was called Eudaimonic Happiness by no less than the great philosopher Aristotle; it’s what I call Ideal Happiness. This variety of happiness is long lasting and is self-generated. Ideal happiness is what everyone wishes for but struggles to find, and it is this type of happiness that the 12 Keys are designed to help us develop."

Dr Nozik says, "Happiness is much more than just another emotion; happiness is a way of being that fosters our positive emotions while inhibiting the negative ones."

Dr. Robert Nozik is not your ordinary self-help author. Bob is currently a Professor Emeritus at the University of California Medical Center, recently retired from a distinguished medical career as a consultant, clinician, and teacher of ophthalmology. His curriculum vitae includes three medical textbooks, nearly 100 scientific journal publications, and over 100 medical lectures.

Throughout his career he has been recognized as a leading authority in the medical subspecialty of uveitis. Bob has been listed in Best Doctors in America every year until his retirement. Bob had been recognized as an adept innovative teacher that thinks outside the box, throughout his medical career. Now he brings this expertise and creativity to helping all of us learn how to become happy.

Bob was not at all happy as a child and downright unhappy as a young adult. Bob reckoned that attaining worldly success would bring him the happiness he lacked. But when achieving this failed to deliver the happiness he envisioned, he sought it elsewhere. Finally, after 20 years of search, and leaving no stone unturned, he did find the deep, inner happiness he was seeking. In a blaze of national and international publicity, he formed HaPl, Happy People, Inc., an organization dedicated to the study and celebration of happiness.

The wonderful thing about Bob's book, HAPPY 4 LIFE: Here's How to Do It, is that he wrote this book from his own experience of living life and finally finding happiness. In this book Bob reveals all the secrets he's unearthed for getting the happiness we all dream of having, and he saves us 20 years in the process.

Dr Nozik says, "Actually, it's not change that's difficult; what's hard is making the firm, unencumbered decision to change. This kind of decision I like to call intention. With intention, changing becomes easy."
