Happ-E-Thanksgiving:) Thanksgiving Basket Brigade
If you want to get into the Holiday Spirit of Giving, you have fun and you will be the happiest person in the world if you help out on this project.
Every year, on the Sunday before Thanksgiving, November 18th, this year, nearly 50 people meet at IMS in Milford, CT for a Thanksgiving Basket Brigade. Our mission is to deliver Thanksgiving dinners directly to needy families in the New Haven area. Each year we work to provide 150 families with a Thanksgiving they will always remember.
The people who take part in the Basket Brigade volunteer their time, their energies, and their dollars in putting together these baskets. Baskets include a turkey, bread, potatoes, cranberry relish, vegetables and pies, as well as additional foodstuffs, books, and other practical items.
We invite you to participate in our 2001 Thanksgiving Basket Brigade.
To help you can:
- Volunteer Your Time to prepare and deliver the baskets on Sunday, November 18, 2000.
- Contribute Financially so that we can buy the Thanksgiving turkeys and food!
- Arrange for Your Company to donate Personal Care Products

Thanksgiving Donations:
Giving and sharing is a large part of happiness. You can share in the gift of being happy this Thanksgiving, by sending a 100% tax-deductible check to Coordinating Council for Children in Crisis. In the memo section of your check write "Thanksgiving," or "Basket Brigade," so the donation will go toward food for the needy. Send your check to CCCC, 131 Dwight Street, New Haven, CT 06511. The phone # is (203) 624-2600.
CCCC helps children and single moms move from a shelter to their own place. Many of these families do not have enough money for the traditional thanksgiving dinner. Sometimes the families we help include children of HIV+ parents, or it could be someone who has lost a job.

"Being Happy!"
By Lionel Ketchian
The term "Excessive Happiness" was used in the movie Patch Adams. The truth is that there is no such thing. Excessive Happiness is like having excessive money. Just imagine someone telling you his or her problem in life is having excessive money. I can just hear them say; "I have excessive money, and I don't know what to do." Having money is not a problem and neither is being happy.
Do you know what "Being Happy" really is? Let me tell you! Being happy means finding out that you are really OK. As Goethe said: "As soon as you trust yourself, you will know how to live." You may have had all kinds of problems and disappointments in your life. Being happy is a method of reassuring yourself that you have the wisdom to think clearly about what has happened. To trust yourself and make choices that will get you where you want to go. Being happy means having value in your life. This allows you to live the life you choose to live.
It means that you do not have to allow yourself to be forced into acting the way your family, friends, and loved ones think you should. Being happy allows you the ability to take action. You become comfortable with who you are. It is as if your purpose for living is revealed to you at long last. Your goals become easier to set and attain. Your plans for living become "the perfect day," than this becomes "your perfect life."
Being happy means taking charge of your life and becoming responsible for yourself. You are taking back the very personal job of deciding what is good for you, and running your own show. Being happy means realizing that you cannot be happy unless you are in control of yourself. Being happy means not trying to control other people. It means that many times you have no control of the situations, events, and experiences in life. This is why we have to become a human being that is being happy.
Being happy means doing what you can, when you can, rather than waiting for something to change on it's own. Being happy means finding the solutions to a problem, than making the best choice for now. Being happy means never volunteering to make yourself a victim. Being happy means you become proactive to allow your wisdom and common sense to make the change you want to see in the next moment rather than react to the moment from your past conditioning.
Being happy makes you feel like you can change the world because you are taking control of yourselves from the inside out. Being happy allows you to deal with what you cannot change because you know it is only temporary and if you really want the change it will happen. Being happy allows you the patience to wait in order to get what you want because you will be getting soon. Being happy allows you to experience being stronger smarter, freer and more fully yourself in the process.
Being happy is the essential quality of being responsible and taking charge. Being happy gives you the ability to successfully cope with meeting challenges. Being happy allows you to show even yourself that you can do things you never even thought you could. Being happy gives you the energy to have the power to take command of any situation. Being happy gives you A CAN DO attitude even if you think you can't.
Being happy allows you to access new habits to empower yourself. Being happy allows you to tap into the power TO DO IT! Being happy allows you to deal with difficult people. Being happy allows you to deal with anger when it arises. Being happy allows you to cope with fear and anxiety because you can go through it.
Being happy allows you to stop feeling guilty and let go of the past. Being happy allows you to forgive people and stop labeling them. Being happy allows you to free yourself of self-doubt and despair.
Being happy allows you to change for the better without NEEDING others to HELP YOU. Being happy allows you to learn new skills because there is nothing holding you back any longer. Being happy allows you to come to the decision that Unhappiness is not an option. Being happy allows you to experience more of who you really are. It allows you to learn more about your life, your relationships, and your potential for being the person you only dreamt you could be.
Being happy is the most powerful decision you can ever make. Being happy gets you what you want out of life. As Henry David Thoreau said: "There is no value in life except what you choose to place upon it and no happiness in any place except what you bring to it yourself."
Being happy is the only way to find happiness. Being happy allows you to keep the experience of happiness. As D. H. Lawrence said: "The living moment is everything." It is not about wanting to "Be Happy." It is about "BEING," in this very moment, which is a present state of reality. When you learn the benefits of "Being Happy," you will become a Happy Human Being!
