Happ-E-Newsletter for December 15, 2007

Welcome My Dear Friend!

I wish you and your family a very happy holiday filled with beauty and love. William Wordsworth wrote these wonderful words of wisdom, "The best portion of a good man's life: his little, nameless unremembered acts of kindness and love."

Og Mandino has given us so much wisdom, here some more of his empowering words, "Whenever you make a mistake or get knocked down by life, don't look back at it too long. Mistakes are life's way of teaching you. Your capacity for occasional blunders is inseparable from your capacity to reach your goals. No one wins them all, and your failures, when they happen, are just part of your growth. Shake off your blunders. How will you know your limits without an occasional failure? Never quit. Your turn will come."

The universe has given you a gift. It's the gift of Happiness. It is a gift because it doesn't cost you anything. You have already been given this gift. If you don't know you have this gift then you will not be able to use it. The first thing to do with the gift of happiness is try it on and wear it from the inside out. Start by putting on a smile and you will never want to leave home without it.

The interesting thing about this gift is that it is not worth anything to you until you use it. You have to know something is of value in order to benefit from it. Most people don't even know the value of happiness because they don't know what happiness is. Happiness is one of the most valuable things in the world.

Happiness is mental health, peace of mind, a great attitude, a positive vision, a contributor to good physical health and a friendship magnet. Happiness is the foundation for love and compassion. My definition: Happiness is an inner state of well-being that enables you to profit from your highest thoughts, intelligence, wisdom, awareness, common sense, emotions, health, and spiritual values. Happiness has different meanings for different people, but it always possesses the same basic component, which is having gratitude for what you already have.

Happiness is meeting the "problems" of life head on with the tool bag of choices available to the happy individual. Happiness is not a thing; it is a state of mind. It is a decision that is made in one clear moment, which will positively impact the rest of your life. A good decision does more to create the best future for you than anything else can.

Happiness is not getting up in the morning and hoping you have a nice day. It's getting up and knowing you are going to make it a great day! It's not about waiting to hear someone pay you a compliment so you can feel happy. Happiness is not taking it personally, so you don't let yourself become negatively affected by what other people say.

I made the "Happiness Decision" on December 24, 1990. I have practiced "being happy" since that time, and it has never let me down. Still the choice remains for all of us, what will you, choose? Will you choose happiness or unhappiness? You're always making that choice, don't let your emotions make the choice for you. It's time to let your thinking determine the best decision you can make.

Decide to use your gift of being happy! Choose happiness in every moment, over every obstacle and to resolve any problem you encounter. It states in Philippians 4:11 "For I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content." You will become a powerful person, because you will develop the strength you need to gain control over yourself. That is the authentic power of being happy.

The greatest reason for using the gift of happiness is that happiness is the opposite of fear. Believe me, you don't need fear to run your life. Fear is our biggest problem. Happiness is powerful, try smiling at someone and you will see for yourself.

Happiness is your present! This gift is your present! Use your gift and appreciate your present right now. Be grateful for your present, for it contains something wonderful. Do you see what I see? I see happiness! If you don't, than you are not grateful for your present. Smile, you have been given more than you know, but if you don't use it, you may lose it. Start using your gift of happiness now and people will think you are gifted!

Happ-E-Mail :) The Happy Club for Teens of lower Fairfield County is working their community service magic once again. This time the Happy Club is teaming with up the Connecticut Chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) to bring holiday cheer to the many residents of Stamfordís Liberation House.

On December 15th, from 1:30-3:00, the Happy Club teens and ASID will host an afternoon holiday gala for the Liberation House residents and their families at 125 Main Street in Stamford, CT. The Happy Club has asked each child attending the party to give them their Holiday "wish list", and the teens have then collected and wrapped each specific wish gift. These presents will be given out by Santa while everyone enjoys holiday activities, lots of sweets, music, and, most importantly, the companionship of the Happy Club teens.
The Happy Club for Teens is a "not for profit" organization with 40 members that come from all socio-economic backgrounds. It was founded by two teens, Kasey Glass and Sami Stone, who are both co-presidents. This incredible club is particularly unique in that unlike other service clubs it is neither sponsored by, nor affiliated with a religious organization, a school, or a neighborhood association, etc. Itís all about "teens feeling happy helping others". The Happy Club was recently given an award for being the best Volunteer Youth Group/2007 by the Volunteer Center and the Thompson Corp. The club is involved with providing community service to the Lower Fairfield County Food Bank, Brighton Gardens assisted living home, St. Lukeís LifeWorks, Stamford Animal Care and Control and many other organizations. Happy-Book :) Conversations With Yourself, by Rabbi Zelig Pliskin. Available at: Available at www.Artscroll.com Rabbi Pliskin is A Self Talk Coach and Happiness Teacher.

The Pleasure Of Forgiving When we forgive others, we help ourselves as much as we help those whom we forgive. We are elevating ourselves and will feel much better when we forgive, than if we would keep on adding more and more resentment. Try it for a couple of weeks. At night, think about any difficulties you had with others and forgive them. Notice how it will change your attitude toward those people the next day. A person who threatens, "I'll remember that," or "I'll get even with you," hurts himself more than he hurts others. Why suffer from resentment when you can choose the pleasure of forgiving? In this book Bob reveals all the secrets he's unearthed for getting the happiness we all dream of having, and he saves us 20 years in the process.

We have found a wonderful location - the Cos Cob library - it is behind the Cos Cob firehouse - so peaceful and beautiful with art inside the comfortable room. Organizing the room involves coming to the library at 4:40 PM on the day of the meeting to pick up the key from the staff (we leave the key in the room after we're done). Happ-E-Quote :) "Never doubt that a small, group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has." - Margaret Mead

Happiness is an inner state of well being. A state that enables you to profit from your highest thoughts, intelligence, wisdom, awareness, common sense, emotions, health, and spiritual values.
Happiness is one of the most important things in your life. Don't give away your power by being unhappy! Practice "Premeditated Happiness," because happiness is an issue of power. We give our power to others for many reasons. We mistakenly think that doing this will make us happy. The truth is that we have given others power over ourselves. We can now consciously reclaim our power and experience happiness. Happiness does wonders for your soul. Now is the time to learn to use happiness for dealing with challenges and difficult people so you can empower your life. Reading this newsletter will not just make your life better; it will make the world a better place...because you have decided to be happy!
