The first meeting was on Wednesday, February 8, 2006 from 12:00 - 1:00 P.M.|

Bridge House is a Clubhouse which is modeled on the Fountain House model of psychiatric rehabilitation.
The men and women who attend assist with the running of the program, which helps to restore their sense of
purpose, dignity and self worth. Members also work at part time jobs, with staff providing intensive supports.

I have known Lionel Ketchian, and his unique passion for sharing happiness, for 5 years. When he offered to bring
a Happiness Group to Bridge House, I jumped at the opportunity. The adults in this program,
a non-clinical psychiatric rehabilitation program, have been extremely responsive to his message.
They hear the valuable nuggets that he offers: make a choice! Your life is more than the things
which happen to you.Your thoughts and choices can bring happiness moment by moment,
despite what life seems to throw at you.
Lionel and the Bridge House members learn from one another: practice gratitude, we are surrounded
with things to be grateful for. Lionel is surely at the top of the list things we are grateful for!

GREENWICH, CONNECICUT CHAPTER OF THE DBSA

(National Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance) Ten years ago, the Greenwich Chapter,
recognizing the need within our community, started a chapter in Greenwich, Connecticut.
We have been pleased both with the response to the program and with our ability to have helped hundreds of patients
and family members. We hold weekly meetings on Fridays from 2:30 - 4:30 PM in a lovely residence in Greenwich, CT.
How Does It Work? The only requirement for participation in our group, which is open to patients and family members,
is that the participant with depression or bipolar disorder be under the supervision of a psychiatrist.
There is no charge. Individuals with Depression or Bipolar Disorder from Fairfield and Westchester Counties
are welcome to attend as are their friends and family who wish to learn more and be supportive.
John Tamerin, M.D. is the group facilitator and a psychiatrist. phone #: 203-661-8282

GREENWICH, CONNECICUT CHAPTER OF THE ACPA
(American Chronic Pain Association)
The Greenwich Connecticut chapter of the ACPA is a free support group for persons who are suffering from
chronic pain and their loved ones. When persons with a common problem help and support one another,
this enhances the medical treatments they are receiving. Our goal is to help participants to achieve the
best possible attitude toward themselves and their lives while living with pain. Because pain is grounded
in our perceptions, changing one’s perspective on pain can be empowering and hope-giving.
This group aims to offer power and hope to those living with pain of any kind: physical, emotional or spiritual.
Free meetings are held every Wednesday from 11:30 am to 12:30 PM in Greenwich, CT.
John Tamerin, M.D. is the group facilitator and a psychiatrist. phone #: 203-661-8282

MADISON, CONNECTICUT - MADISON HAPPINESS CLUB

I decided to start a Happiness Club meeting in Madison, Ct. in October of 2006.
It has simply been a wonderful experience! I so enjoyed attending the meetings that Lionel Ketchian ran in
Fairfield that I wanted to bring it to my own town. The response to it has been far greater than I imagined.
People love attending and I have been told by some that it has helped them to make positive changes in their lives!!
I always hear very positive feedback from people who attend the meetings. I run the meetings very similar to the
Fairfield ones, I hold them monthly at the Madison Library and I have a different speaker each month on
all different topics related to Happiness. I also like to talk about something that I may have read or heard about
and I try to provide different handouts. It has truly brought greater happiness into my life
and I so enjoy having the speakers pass on their incredible knowledge!

Meetings include a presentation by professional speakers on happiness. Meetings are held on the last Wednesday
of each month from 7:00- 8:45 PM, At the E.C. Scranton Memorial Library, 801 Boston Post Road, Madison, Ct. 06443

Meetup: http://www.meetup.com/Shoreline-Happiness-Club/
I've always been a happy person and embraced the concept that happiness is a choice YEARS ago!
Its nice now to see that confirmed by studies now. I think you're never too old (or too young) to be happy.
What motivated me to start a group now was primarily 2 things: I have many friends who are in the same position
I am (kids out of college, career and relationship changes, losing parents—AKA getting older) and working with
seniors (I see firsthand how your choice in approaching life can affect how you age). I thought we all could
use the boost of being with happy people. Plus Tina Garrity’s involvement with the Madison Happiness Club
gave me the motivation to try starting one here! I've followed Tina’s involvement with the Madison Happiness Club
and thought it would be great to start a club in the Branford area to share the spirit! - Robin Smith

SMILES WITHIN A VILLAGE HAPPINESS CLUB, SHELTON, CONNECTICUT
Our first meeting presentation was on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 from 6:00- 8:00 PM.
Meetings are held on the third Wednesday of each month.
Facebook:http://www.facebook.com/pages/Crosby-Commons/149657878387421
Place: Crosby Commons-Wesley Village, 580 Long Hill Ave, Shelton, CT (203) 225-5000

Mary Ann Milano is the group facilitator. Her e-mail: mamilano@umh.org
The meetings are free of charge and open to the public. Admission is free, refreshments will be served and the
meetings are for people who are 50 and over. Mary Ann Milano, is the group facilitator.
Mary Ann is the Activities Director at Crosby Commons in Shelton CT. She says: "I found true happiness within myself
when I realized and accepted my life would always be filled with tough challenges. Once I came to this realization within, I decided consciously to be happy. So, my advice? Stop wanting to be happy and find it within yourself.
I've had enough challenges so far to last me two lifetimes! It almost seems surreal.
I have been married three times, been divorced, dealt
with a dying spouse and became a widow, had a miscarriage, experienced losing friends and family, been abused in every possible way, being overweight, and have been bankrupt and penniless. I think it was when I was at my lowest
point that I realized what it would take for me to make myself happy in my life. I love to share my advice, or my
"secrets" with other people. I used to think the things that have happened to me where a curse, but now I see
them as a gift. I can use what has happened to me to help others,
and help them see what we want to make us happy is inside us."

REDISCOVER HAPPINESS CLUB, CANTON CT
Monica Katzen, BS, MBA is the facilitator.
I just attended the meeting of this wonderful group in October, 2010, and had the opportunity to meet Monica
and the other women in the group as well. This group is for women only and it has been created for them to learn
to discover happiness in their life no matter what they may have experienced in life. Monica feels that women can be
more open with other women. This is the reason to keep the group as a women's self-support group.
I really enjoyed meeting this wonderful group of women who have come together to learn and share life
changing ideas, stories and strategies to live their best life now. They hold meetings once a month in a members
home in the Canton, Connecticut area. If you have been going through a life transition and want to be with positive
like minded women, than this group is for you. Monica is enthusiastic about helping other women reach their
full potential both personally and professionally, and wishes to help broaden acceptance of, and spread
knowledge about, the benefits of complementary wellness modalities in her community.
She thrives on constant introspection and self-discovery as well as the collection of new ideas, knowledge and friends.

HAPPY HAP, YALE UNIVERSTIY, NEW HAVEN, CT
HappyHap@Yale, is a student organization whose main goal is to create and promote awareness of the importance of happiness on campus and beyond. For us, the question of happiness is more than a vacuous response about ultimate ends. Rather, it is a concrete challenge that modern society is failing to address, in spite of its sheer incredible development and progress in many other areas. We therefore seek to create a fertile environment for the flourishing of not only successful, but more importantly well-rounded individuals at Yale.
Founded in 2008 by Sunnie Tölle (now a junior at Yale University) we set out to create www.happyhap.com, a web platform on which - based on the idea that happiness is contagious - you can post a few lines, a photo, or a video of a happy moment and dedicate it to others. We are driven by creativity, happy moments, and fun ideas. Since then, we create and realize projects on and off-campus that reflect our three core principles:

Happiness is contagious.
Happiness - when shared - can inspire and empower others.
Happiness can be expressed in infinitely many ways.

Most recently, we staged a two-week exhibition on "Happiness around the World" (read more here:
http://www.yaledailynews.com/news/2011/feb/15/global-happiness-comes-to-campus/).

At our weekly meetings, we brainstorm, coordinate, and execute projects that reflect our three core principles. In terms of our internal structure, it's all project-based. If you come up with an idea, then you become the project leader unless you want to pass it on. Past projects have included a publication, an amateur short movie, study breaks, a photography exhibition and a web platform.

Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/pages/HappyHap-Yale/193253237367273?ref=ts#!/pages/HappyHap-Yale/193253237367273?sk=info

We do not yet have a fixed meeting time and place, so for now I suggest anyone who's interested just sends me an email, and we'll take it from there. I'll let you know as soon as the group finds a convenient time that works for everyone.

For the near future in April, we really like the idea of having a coffee cup conversation series with people who have something interesting to share in the field of positive psychology or in general about happiness.

YESHIVA COLLEGE HAPPINESS CLUB, MANHATTAN, NY
In December 2010 a new Happiness Club was started at Yeshiva College
by an undergraduate student named Moshe Siegel.
The club meets once a month in one of the university classrooms in order to discuss various
factors related to happiness. At its inaugural meeting the second week in December, the club
engaged in a discussion about developing our appreciation for others and also talked about why
financial status has almost no correlation to happiness.

The club was started by a 2nd year student at the college named Moshe Siegel.
Moshe became interested in the subject of happiness this past summer after seeing the book Life
is Now by Rabbi Zelig Pliskin in his local synagogue. Over the summer, Moshe read Life is Now twice.
After seeing the website HappinessClub.com mentioned in the book: Life is Now, Moshe went onto the
Happiness Club website and contacted Lionel Ketchian and received lots of advice
about starting a Happiness Club. Believing that his own happiness would grow from having monthly
meetings with other joyful students, Moshe filled out forms at his college in order to start a new club.
The club was approved by the college administration. Since Yeshiva College has an all-male student population,
the club is primarily for men. The club’s goal is to provide a monthly opportunity for students
to have fun while developing a stronger commitment towards the attainment of happiness.

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NEW YORK - LONG ISLAND HAPPINESS CLUB

The first meeting was held on Monday, December 1, 2008 at 7:00 PM.
Meetings are once a month from 7:00 PM at 40 Maple Ave, Rockville Centre, NY 11570.

I've been running the New York City Happiness Club for a long time and haven't been able to run a Happiness Club in Long Island due to space and time issues. I'm finally able to run monthly meetings in Long Island again. To kick off our new title, I'll be speaking on the most influential research I have come across in positive psychology.... Mindset: The psychology of success. Ever wonder why there are people who shy away from challenges whereas others roll up there sleeves and dive in? Or notice the kids that don't bother studying for tests and settle for failure? Feel like you aren't fully living to your potential, but you can't put your finger on why? Then this workshop is for you! Walk away with your mindset transformed. Guaranteed or your money back!!! Sign up ASAP because spots are limited. In addition to running the NYC Happiness Club, I have spoken at the Happiness Club of Westport CT and will the guest speaker in the December Virtual Happiness Club and will be speaking at the Fairfield, CT Club in February 2009. During our meeting we introduced ourselves, shared the purpose and vision of the club, and members' wishes. We discussed two articles, shared some good news, and wrote 3 grateful things for the day. We filled out and read aloud the happiness decision pledge and socialized.

For our next meeting we will be discussing the first chapter of the book, Gateway to Happiness. I am so excited about being a part of the Happiness Club. Thanks for having the vision to create a Happiness Club. I received great feedback from our meeting. After many years of continued studies, his realization and ability to learn to live with “true acceptance to what is…and then making life happen.” Larry feels that this single-most awareness has helped him to adopt the philosophy which is: “Happiness is a Choice and Suffering is Optional," (and with that, he chooses to no longer suffer). To add to the Joys of life, Larry enjoys his friends, Windsurfing, is also engaged in the Travel industry and he is currently putting together the components for his own Happiness Seminar, which he now knows is his personal mission and purpose for being on this planet at this time and with that, he wishes that you “Choose to Have A Great Day…because you deserve nothing less!”
Come to our Happiness Club meeting: Network and introduce yourself. See a brief Happiness Club movie and participate in the discussion and exercises on happiness.

At the first meeting of the Columbus Happiness Club meeting, I spoke about my experience in finding happiness and why I started a club. Why be happy? Why not? You'll have better focus, better patience, enhanced relationships and enjoy your life while enriching others with your happiness plus lots more fun! Learn to use happiness to make a positive difference in your life and in the life of others! Happiness Club meetings will give you a rational, common sense approach to accept a positive view of life and deal with the things you cannot change. We'll have speakers at our monthly meetings who will guide you on your journey toward happiness.

Our club is open to happy people of all ages! We'll meet on the 3rd Sunday of each month at 3 pm at the Worthington in Gahanna.

LOVES PARK, ILLINOIS HAPPINESS CLUB

Kelly says: "A couple years ago, I got the word "joy" tattooed on my wrist. I had the ink artist write it to face me, as my reminder to make my decisions based on what brings me joy. Little did I know then that my life's work would become helping others find joy. And little did I know that giving out fake tattoos would become such a fun part of my workshops."

ANN ARBOR, MICHIGAN - HAPPINESS CLUB
I started this group out of my interest in Positive Psychology and the new "science of happiness." I am also interested in: meditation, mindfulness, flow, resilience, optimism and related applications to health, relationships, business, parenting, education and personal growth. An interesting aside is that several current and former faculty at The University of Michigan have been instrumental in the development of Positive Psychology. I am open to ideas for meetups but I was thinking about discussion groups, a book club, having presentations from professionals working in the field of Positive Psychology, meditation, life coaching, psychotherapy, education, business etc.

The University of Michigan actually has some strong roots in Positive Psychology, with Dr. Chris Peterson. A Primer on Positive Psychology, in the psych department and Dr. Jane Dutton, Positive Organizational Scholarship at the business school. Dr. Barbara Fredrickson, Positivity, developed her broaden and build theory of positive emotion while at the U of M. Drop me a line and let me know what you think!

Michael Niemi is the facilitator. His phone: 734-834-8896.

OMAHA NEBRASKA HAPPINESS CLUB

First meeting was held on Tuesday August 5, 2008 at 7:00 PM.
"I was told by a former director in 1998 that I was "too happy, and peppy and that I was not taking my responsibilities seriously enough" but I always knew that my natural joy and energy were and are one of my greatest sources of strengths. Since that time, I have been hoarding any and all research, articles, books, and resources about happiness, joy, gratitude and positivity. When I took the StrengthsFinder 2.0 via the Gallup Organization's book and found that positivity was one of my main themes, I felt even more validated for being who I am naturally. It was then that I started exploring happiness clubs in my area instead of attending via the Virtual Club, with the International Happiness being my ultimate inspiration.
I love the newsletter and have shared it with the Happiness Club members. I am very excited!! Thank you for starting the Happiness Clubs - they are a true treasure! I truly appreciate your support and encouragement. Thank you again!!" Anissa Stein

SAN FRANCISCO CALIFORNIA HAPPINESS CLUB

In 2004, when Lionel asked me to start the California Chapter of the happiness club in San Francisco, I answered with an enthusiastic "YES!!!!" It was one of the greatest decisions I have ever made! Holding a safe and warm space for people to come to learn about happiness, share their experiences with others and learn from each other is one of the most rewarding activities one could ever participate in. I have seen people who never thought they would be happy ever in their lives achieve sustainable happiness and become inspirations for others. There is no other type of environment for people to talk about this intimate topic in an authentic and honest way. The attendees have really come to enjoy and look forward to each and every meeting. When people leave the happiness club gatherings they are a lot happier than when they came and it is so rewarding to know that it only takes 2 hours of time once a month to make such a great impact on people's lives!

BROWARD CHRISTIAN HAPPINESS CLUB

After watching your programs and reading your materials for years, I finally decided to start a Happiness Club here in South Florida. I am on the Board of a new Spiritual Center called The Shepherd's Bridge with programs designed to help men and women  who enjoy interfaith spiritual services, or who are in recovery, or are having to start life over again for any reason. Our club will use the Center here in Davie (Ft. Lauderdale area) which is Broward County. So to begin with, we have named it the Broward Christian Happiness Club.

We had our first meeting on Saturday, January 29th, 2011. The next meeting will be February 26th at 12:30.
Meetings are on the last Saturday of each month at 12:30 P.M.

Excellent, so glad I attended. * I had a great time last night at the Happiness Club and cannot wait until the next one. I am very fortunate to have a very high happiness set point and last night just added to it. * This is sad ....

and shared her story. She was so happy she came and it truly helped her in every way.
She is paying it forward and helping other children that is going through health challenges
and will now incorporate Happiness and will return back next month! *
"What a blessing to have a group like this." *Life changing
*Learned so much and will apply pause and living NOW. *I am so glad I came tonight,
you have made a big difference in my life. Can't wait for next month. I am bringing more people with me. *
Lyn-Dee & Mark are entertaining and their seminar is very educational and motivational, fun and uplifting.

Attend the Happiness Now Laughter Club with Mark & Lyn-Dee Eldridge and experience an incredible evening of fun and learning about life's most important skills. We have seen people who never thought they would be happy ever in their lives achieve sustainable happiness and become inspirations for others as well.
Here are just a few of many areas we will be sharing...* Why it's important to focus on happiness. * How do you create happiness in your life. * How happiness increases health & longevity. * Why Laughter Meditation truly is the best medicine. When people leave the happiness club gatherings they are a lot happier then when they came and it is so rewarding to know that it only takes 2 hours of time once a month makes such a great impact on people's lives! Please RSVP quickly, space is limited. We can't wait for you to join us on our"Crusade to Inspire Happiness, Health & Longevity."

CLUBS DE BONUEUR, MONTREAL, CANADA
Geneviève Tremblay and Marie Josée Boudreau are the club facilitators.
We had our first meeting Tuesday, March 6th. It was just G-R-E-A-T! Joyful and truthful, those are the two words that come to my mind to describe that moment shared together. We were only 8 this time, as it was Spring break, many were away. But I think next time, from the emails I got up to now, we will have much more. But the numbers we had has nothing to do with the success of that meeting: we all left enthusiast about living a great and fulfilling life. Next time, we were thinking of adding 30 minutes before the Happiness Club meeting to hold a Laughter Club meeting for those interested to get there earlier and live that experience. I am a laughter yoga leader too, so I thought, why not? It is so wonderful to laugh without any reason in group.
Our meetings will include the following:
1 - Presentation on the factors constituting the IRB (Indice relative du bonheur), a very interesting work of a fellow Quebecois, Pierre Côté who conduct an "observatory" on happiness (he surveyed over 43 000 people to know what happiness was all about). For more info: http://www.indicedebonheur.com/
2 - A circle of "sharing-listening", where we can experience what is like to truly listen and be listen. The focus is on sharing our experiences related to cultivating happiness.
3 - A "happiness challenge", bringing people to take and share a challenge they want to undertake for the next month. As a coach, I love to accompany people to challenge themselves to be happier right away (why do we need to wait any way!).
I also updated our website to be prepared to promote our new clubs that will be opening soon. I don't know if you read French, but it is at: http://www.bonheurenvrac.ca/index.php/clubs-de-bonheur.
I got myself inspired with my own experience of running a Laughter Club and coaching support groups to set up the "frame". As we go along the way, I will update with the experience we will be gaining."

JAFFA GATE, ISRAEL MARCIE'S HAPPINESS CLUB

July 26, 2010 was the first meeting.
Marcie is a young woman who has been a quadriplegic for the past four years, ever since a failed operation for a blood clot left her paralyzed in all but three of her fingers, and unable to speak. Marcie lives in a hospice. Almost everyone else there has terminal illnesses, Marcie does not. She needs total health care due to her condition. Although Marcie can't talk, she radiates a positive way of being. Her mind was unaffected and her ability to maintain an inner equilibrium
and a capacity for joy is a thing of wonder.

At Sahra's first meeting, she asked Marcie what thoughts enable her to go on, and she replied (she spells out words by pointing to letters on an alphabet board)
1) that she doesn't think about what she's missing
2) that it could be worse, and
3) that she is not alone.

Marcie suggested that every day at 4:00 PM (the hour they meet on Mondays)
we should all simultaneously be happy for one whole minute.
Sarah is the daughter of Norman Cousins (June 24, 1915 - November 30, 1990) who was an American political journalist, the author of many books, a professor, and a world peace advocate. Norman was well know for his book: Anatomy of an Illness As Perceived by the Patient.

Sarah Shapiro is the author of many books including her newest one, A Gift Passed Along, A woman looks at the world around her. There are many words to describe Sarah Shapiro's writing: literature of the highest order, refreshing, intriguing, insightful, moving, funny, touching. We could go on - but the only way to truly appreciate her is to read her.
Sarah Shapiro is the facilitator. Her e-mail is: sarahkit@netvision.net.il

Feel free to join and please invite your Happy Friends to join the virtual Happiness Club on facebook. Here is the link for Facebook to click on: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=124951814182690
I'm going to create a real Happiness Club sometime soon. I understand that it'll be the first in Jordan, and we'll have monthly meetings. Please let me know if you are interested in joining! Thank you for creating the Happiness Club! I think it is a brilliant idea! I discovered it by chance a few weeks ago, as I was preparing for a workshop on Happiness. Was it a coincidence? For the past year or so, I was thinking of creating a group that is uplifting, but couldn't determine what it is all about exactly. I think the Happiness Club is ideal for what I had in mind. I downloaded the e-booklet on how to start a Happiness Club here in my city in Amman, Jordan. Thank you for your willingness to take positive actions, and may you always be Happy, Zafira

book and explain it to the other participants. Articles will be discussed during the session.

Then, after a relaxation, the Happiness Club starts with a different theme each month. The facilitator introduces a new author or book, the group discusses about it and then it is time to make individual exercises on an exercise book. People who want to share their experience can and after that, everybody goes home with homework until the next month.

LYON, FRANCE HAPPINESS CLUB

I'm a coach, a psychology and an NPL practitioner and teach it as well. I have been at Frontignan, France to laugh with Corinne (Frontignan Happiness Club) and I often lead a laughing group, around Lyon. Lyon is in the center of France, near the Alpes, and near Geneva, and 3 hours to the Mediterranean Sea.

I enjoy coaching and helping people to be happy by transforming their emotions, by just smiling every morning, by being "ecologic" to themselves, by knowing what they really want in life. They are the Most important person....I believe and I'm sure That God is Here in Us...He's very powerful....And we can be that part of God,  if we show Him the way to express His power by installing Joy and Happiness in Us.

Life is about finding and recovering that natural  Happiness we had and feel how simply LOVE and JOY can lead us to success and lightness. I have opened a "Happiness Club" school in Lyon.

The first one will be the 3rd of march at
6 30 - 9 00 PM. The subject is: How to find our aims and how to feel the emotion it would bring. People will learn how emotions can lead us to our aim without any effort. Then we'll have 30 minutes of laughter. This happiness School will be on the first Tuesday of each month. It will cost 25.

Happiness, Success, Joy, depends only on US. Helen Hélène Laporte, HL2C

THE HAPPINESS CLUB, GLASGOW CITY, SCOTLAND
Comedian Ken Dodd was right when he sang that happiness is 'the greatest gift' we possess. And the Happiness Club, which I first launched in Glasgow in April 2011, is proving to be the perfect way of spreading that message. Life is very rarely ever a straight line; it goes up and down all the time. Happiness gives you resilience to cope with anything that life throws at you, to bounce back on your feet and make life better. Happiness creates success too - everyone benefits when we feel good, positive emotions spread out so we can create better things for ourselves and others too. If people understand this and know how to go about it, just think how much better our society could be. The people who attend the Happiness Clubs are ordinary people with normal reactions to everyday problems. What makes them extraordinary is that they want to create solutions for themselves and are willing to learn new things and put them into action. They are focusing on being happier, not just less miserable. We focus on the positive outcome of Happiness, to explore how to change mind sets and reduce depression and stress. Our Happiness Club now has over 100 members, many of whom have described the club as being 'positive, inspiring and fantastic'. Building on that success, I am now trying to connect more with local communities, as I believe that the Happiness Club ideas could expand out and have a greater impact. I want to connect with other local groups, businesses and individuals working in the fields of happiness and wellbeing so that we can all benefit from the collective drive. So Happiness and Wellbeing in Bishopbriggs was developed and we held our first event in November 2011. The Happiness Club for Bishopbriggs launched on 7th February 2012 and there are other clubs are in the pipeline.

I have seen people be floored by depression, which left them feeling so low and bleak, unable to express or feel any emotion. I wanted to find a way to help people to step out of this negative mindset, to feel more positive and break free from the negative spiral. The Happiness Clubs show people how to do that - how to be more positive and happy to improve the quality of their mental wellbeing, their lives and the lives of those around them. People are taught how to feel happy and to share that with others, spreading positive energy to increase those upbeat times.

My thirst for personal development has led me to explore topics on everything from spirituality, the soul, reincarnation, neuroscience, the power of the brain, quantum universes, emotional intelligence and loads more. I read a lot of positive psychology books, self help books and learned a variety of alternative therapies. The real breakthrough came when I learned NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming)- it blew my mind with such fast results and a whole set of tools to change the mind set.

I also taught my two children, Calum and Kirsten, the techniques that I had learned and their minds grew, they understood that they could change how they felt. Tragically, in October 2007, just a few weeks short of his 13th birthday, Calum lost his life to meningitis. The impact of Calum's death shook me to my very core. The grief, depression, panic and anxiety were overwhelming. I questioned so many of my values trying to make sense of what had happened. But I vowed that I would be happy again, that our family would survive this tragedy. I wanted Calum to be proud of us and to recognize us as the family he knew if he could see us.

Scotland's Happiness Revolution: Not content with starting up local clubs, I have also kick-started an initiative to get others talking about Happiness too. This initiative is for practitioners, trainers or anyone interested in sharing, developing and encouraging more Happiness-focused events throughout Scotland. It's about getting the message out there that you can make a difference. Seeing someone blossom and open up their mind to the possibilities around them is awe inspiring. Seeing someone smile and feel happy is worth its weight in gold.

MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA HAPPINESS CLUB

The first meeting was held on Thursday, September 4, 2008 and was a great success. The room was filled with laughter and great discussions on ways to be in happiness. We started with looking at 'Choosing to be happy' - making the choice every day to be happy - I spoke about the why, how are where of happiness clubs. I talked about gratitude and took us though a fun game to show how we often say something but do something different.

Our speaker, Lisa Heath talked about broadening our perceptive on happiness and enjoying the ride wherever that takes us. We learn some simple physical techniques for stress busting. Lisa ended on these simple ideas. # Challenge any negative thoughts - (are they infact true) # Be grateful # seek out meaning # work to my strengths # connect with people and # move your body.
Sarah Dewey is the facilitator.

TASMANIA, AUSTRALIA HAPPINESS CLUB
Tasmania is a small island to the south of Australia just across the water from Melbourne.
The first Happiness Club meeting here in Tasmania, Australia will be on the 18th March, 2009. It will be held at the Kings Meadows Community Health Center, McHugh Street, Kings Meadows on the 18th March. I have yet to set the agenda for this meeting.

I am married with 2 grown sons. I used to be a clown and did laughter therapy workshops for some years here in my local area. They were great fun but I eventually let them go but I have always had a passion to find happiness for myself and for others. I learned happiness a little later in my life and I really want to share what I have learned with others so they can live their live in a much more meaningful way. I am trained as a spiritual coach specializing in the law of attraction, and am just setting up my practice in this area but I feel drawn to make my practice more around happiness than anything else. In the past I thank you so much for your friendship. Warm regards, Susan Hinds

I have downloaded the book on your website and I am very grateful indeed for that. I felt straight away that this is something that I would really enjoy doing and I know that Tasmania needs it so much. I would also like to be involved in the online happiness club and I am so happy that I have access to so much material.
I will listen with interest the recording you have on your site when you interview Dr. Tim Sharp and I intend to attend a workshop that he is having in Melbourne. I will be very excited to have contact with him and having access to his wisdom.

I have subscribed to your newsletter and I thank you so much for your wonderful site and I am so excited to learn more and help others. I look forward to meeting with you someday as I really love to travel and I would love to attend either a happiness club or something else that you are involved in.
Warm regards, Susan Hinds

HAPPINESS CLUB THAMES, NEW ZEALAND

On August 26th, the Thames New Zealand Happiness Club met for the first time from 12:00 to 1:00 PM and it went so well! There were 13 very enthusiastic people who saw the ad in the local paper and the flyers I placed on various notice boards. I must admit to being a little unsure of what to expect – however, as always, things went smoothly. Everyone shared their reasons for being there. I told them about how Lionel started this club and that Pat Armitstead created our first Happiness Club in New Zealand.

Our Happiness Homework for the next meeting is:
1. Recalling this beautiful affirmation: LOVE IS ALL YOU NEED.
2. Nightly writing of 5 wonderful statements of Gratitude in your GRATITUDE DIARY to bring along at our next meeting.
3. Deciding if you wish to Sign your Happiness Decision, framing it, putting it on your fridge or somewhere to remind you of your great choice.
4. Pledge you made to find - within the next 24 hours - a Happiness Icon you will keep daily to hold with joy to keep you Happy.
5. Share your SMILES with Everyone you meet.
6. Bring along a lovely Happiness statement, affirmation, story or beautiful idea or thought for our Next Meeting.

The Next Meeting of the Thames Happiness Club is on 22nd of September from 12:00 to 1:00 PM.
Have a Very Happy Month and please feel free to email me with any suggestions or questions at any time!
