MAKE IT HAPPY, NEW YORK, NEW YORK
Mario Chammorro is the founder and Executive Director.
Make it Happy Website: http://www.letsmakeithappy.org
E-mail: mario@happypost.org
MakeitHappy is a New York based organization which works to generate positive social change by spreading happiness.
We believe that happiness is a universal value which can change individuals and improve the world. Make it Happy builds platforms and services that spark innovation and social change projects. We amplify our impact by cultivating a global
grassroots movement of social innovators who work to bring happiness to their own communities. This is organization if for the
do-gooders with an itch to use their gifts to make the world a better place, welcome to the global movement that invites you to unlock the power of happiness to create a more peaceful, purposeful, healthy earth.
Every minute of every day we are making decisions. Each small action that we take has an impact on our lives and the people that are surrounding us. We have the power to make those decisions based in compassion and kindness that can enable our genes to respond more favorably to how we're conducting our own lives. If a gene is a molecular unit of heredity, perhaps our behavior has the possibility to become a nice heritage for our future generations.

YESHIVA COLLEGE HAPPINESS CLUB, MANHATTAN, NY
In December 2010 a new Happiness Club was started at Yeshiva College by an undergraduate student named Moshe Siegel.
The club meets once a month in one of the university classrooms in order to discuss various
factors related to happiness. At its inaugural meeting the second week in December, the club
engaged in a discussion about developing our appreciation for others and also talked about why
financial status has almost no correlation to happiness.
The club was started by a 2nd year student at the college named Moshe Siegel.
Moshe became interested in the subject of happiness this past summer after seeing the book Life
is Now by Rabbi Zelig Pliskin in his local synagogue. Over the summer, Moshe read Life is Now twice.
After seeing the website HappinessClub.com mentioned in the book: Life is Now, Moshe went onto the Happiness Club website and contacted Lionel Ketchian and received lots of advice
about starting a Happiness Club. Believing that his own happiness would grow from having monthly meetings with other joyful students, Moshe filled out forms at his college in order to start a new club.
The club was approved by the college administration. Since Yeshiva College has an all-male student population, the club is primarily for men. The club’s goal is to provide a monthly opportunity for students to have fun while developing a stronger commitment towards the attainment of happiness.

PEOPLE WHO NEED PEOPLE, WHITE PLAINS, NEW YORK

Sign up on Meetup at: http://www.meetup.com/People-Who-Need-People-Exploring-Relationships/
George Ortega is the group organizer.
George Ortega started this group in August 2016, called People Who Need People - Exploring Relationships. It will meet each 1st and 3rd Tuesday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Barnes and Nobel in White Plains, New York. Here are some of the details:
How is it that just by getting together to talk about our relationships we can make them, and our lives, better? Our group is based on an experiment conducted in 1980 by New Zealand psychologists, Shelley Lichter, Karen Haye and Richard Kammann. These three pioneering researchers brought people together twice each week for two-hour conversations about happiness, and after four weeks, the group became 22 percent happier. Extending the sessions, they discovered that after sixteen weeks, the group became about 42 percent happier.
Our events are always free, it's okay to arrive late or leave early, and rsvping isn't absolutely necessary to attend our meetings.

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NEW YORK - LONG ISLAND HAPPINESS CLUB
The first meeting was held on Monday, December 1, 2008 at 7:00 PM.
Meetings are once a month from 7:00 PM at 40 Maple Ave, Rockville Centre, NY 11570.
I've been running the New York City Happiness Club for a long time and haven't been able to run a Happiness Club in Long Island due to space and time issues. I'm finally able to run monthly meetings in Long Island again. To kick off our new title, I'll be speaking on the most influential research I have come across in positive psychology.... Mindset: The psychology of success. Ever wonder why there are people who shy away from challenges whereas others roll up there sleeves and dive in? Or notice the kids that don't bother studying for tests and settle for failure? Feel like you aren't fully living to your potential, but you can't put your finger on why? Then this workshop is for you! Walk away with your mindset transformed. Guaranteed or your money back!!! Sign up ASAP because spots are limited. In addition to running the NYC Happiness Club, I have spoken at the Happiness Club of Westport CT and will the guest speaker in the December Virtual Happiness Club and will be speaking at the Fairfield, CT Club in February 2009. Looking forward to seeing you soon. Love and light, Emiliya

HAPPINESS CLUB, LAFAYETTE, LOUISIANA

Marlene King, a Lafayette woman is on mission to make the 'happiest city in America' an even happier place. The "happiest city in America" is getting a little bit happier if a Lafayette woman has anything to say about it. The woman intent on injecting even more joy into Lafayette, one person at a time, is Marlene King. She's on a mission to launch in the Deep South happiness clubs similar to those started in the northeast in 1999. What better place for one in the South than in a city that's received national attention as America's happiest city, located in a state that had one governor who penned the sunny "You Are My Sunshine" and another who famously proclaimed "Every Man A King."
"There are happiness clubs in different parts of the world and northern states but none in the southern states," King said. "When I saw that, I said that we needed to start one in a southern state. And then I thought, 'Why not make it Louisiana? Why not make it Lafayette?' She refers to her effort as the Happiness Injection Project and says the mission is to "promote the benefits of well-being through our thoughts, emotions and spiritual values." The basic idea, she says, is to spread happiness and joy in the community.
King said she calls her effort a project rather than a club, because clubs require dues and fees for people to participate. "We call this a project because it does not cost anything other than their presence and a smile," King said. "If they don't have a smile, that's OK; we will provide one."
"We want people to understand that we should have spirituality for happiness," King said. "Spirituality does not mean religion; spirituality means a deep sense of healthy aliveness and interconnectedness."
Marlene King is the group facilitator. For information contact King at marlenejking17@gmail.com

CHOOSE HAPPINESS & CIVILITY CLUB, LONG BEACH, CALIFORNIA

Chandra Ellington is the new club facilitator. Her Cell: (310) 245-9369

Chandra Ellington started her own company named, Choose Happiness & Civility in October 2015. She is also the facilitator of the e-Happiness Club on Facebook at: https://www.facebook.com/groups/ChooseHappinessAndCivility/ to assist in her mission of coaching people on how making a conscious effort to accept a positive view of life can increase their endurance for dealing with life's problems, help them experience greater peace of mind, become a more loving person, access the wisdom within them, and become a person of greater strength by cultivating a positive attitude. "I've discovered in life that happiness is not a given, it's a choice. I choose to be happy by monitoring my inner-conversations. Making my thoughts a priority and taking the time to assess them - deciding if the thought I'm having is negative (one that causes me to feel bad) and if so, changing the thought to a positive one that's filled with self-empowerment, possibility, belief and/or positive regard. By doing so, I'm making a conscious effort at choosing to be happy." - Chandra Ellington. I wasn't able to start a Happiness Club at a physical location in Long Beach, CA as planned, but I started a Facebook Group and I have 23 members so far.

ANTELOPE VALLEY HAPPINESS CLUB, LANCASTER, CALIFORNIA

On July 15, 2009 we had our first Happiness Club meeting. Eleven people showed up and it went very well. During our meeting we introduced ourselves, shared the purpose and vision of the club, and members' wishes. We discussed two articles, shared some good news, and wrote 3 grateful things for the day. We filled out and read aloud the happiness decision pledge and socialized.
For our next meeting we will be discussing the first chapter of the book, Gateway to Happiness. I am so excited about being a part of the Happiness Club. Thanks for having the vision to create a Happiness Club. I received great feedback from our meeting. One lady whose going through divorce and financial woes wrote a message of appreciation that made me cry. Another said that she liked the intellectual aspect of the meeting. The first meeting was held on Monday, August 4, 2008.
Larry was raised in Brooklyn, NY, went to San Diego and has been living there for the past 13 years and he lives only 37 steps from the beach. After many years of continued studies, his realization and ability to learn to live with “true acceptance to what is…and then making life happen.” Larry feels that this single-most awareness has helped him to adopt the philosophy which is: “Happiness is a Choice and Suffering is Optional," (and with that, he chooses to no longer suffer). To add to the Joys of life, Larry enjoys his friends, Windsurfing, is also engaged in the Travel industry and he is currently putting together the components for his own Happiness Seminar, which he now knows is his personal mission and purpose for being on this planet at this time and with that, he wishes that you “Choose to Have A Great Day…because you deserve nothing less!”

First meeting was October 14, 2013. Meeting monthly.
A new club on campus aims to change Carlmont's vibe. Carlmont junior Adelyn Yau is pioneering the new Happiness Club.
Yau's main goal is not to fund raise or complete hours of community service, but to simply, "organize successful events that will make everyone's day. We want to create a club to make people's time at school a bit more enjoyable."
This idea isn't new, though. Yau was inspired by Northwestern University's Happiness Club, and seeing that Sequoia High School also had one that was very successful, she was empowered to start the club here at Carlmont.

SAN FRANCISCO CALIFORNIA HAPPINESS CLUB

In 2004, when Lionel asked me to start the California Chapter of the happiness club in San Francisco, I answered with an enthusiastic "YES!!!!" It was one of the greatest decisions I have ever made! Holding a safe and warm space for people to come to learn about happiness, share their experiences with others and learn from each other is one of the most rewarding activities one could ever participate in. I have seen people who never thought they would be happy ever in their lives achieve sustainable happiness and become inspirations for others. There is no other type of environment for people to talk about this intimate topic in an authentic and honest way. The attendees have really come to enjoy and look forward to each and every meeting. When people leave the happiness club gatherings they are a lot happier than when they came and it is so rewarding to know that it only takes 2 hours of time once a month to make such a great impact on people's lives!

An interesting aside is that several current and former faculty at The University of Michigan have been instrumental in the development of Positive Psychology. I am open to ideas for meetups but I was thinking about discussion groups, a book club, having presentations from professionals working in the field of Positive Psychology, meditation, life coaching, psychotherapy, education, business etc.

The University of Michigan actually has some strong roots in Positive Psychology, with Dr. Chris Peterson. A Primer on Positive Psychology, in the psych department and Dr. Jane Dutton, Positive Organizational Scholarship at the business school. Dr. Barbara Fredrickson, Positivity, developed her broaden and build theory of positive emotion while at the U of M. Drop me a line and let me know what you think!

OMAHA NEBRASKA HAPPINESS CLUB
First meeting was held on Tuesday August 5, 2008 at 7:00 PM.
"I was told by a former director in 1998 that I was "too happy, and peppy and that I was not taking my responsibilities seriously enough" but I always knew that my natural joy and energy were and are one of my greatest sources of strengths. Since that time, I have been hoarding any and all research, articles, books, and resources about happiness, joy, gratitude and positivity. When I took the StrengthsFinder 2.0 via the Gallup Organization's book and found that positivity was one of my main themes, I felt even more validated for being who I am naturally. It was then that I started exploring happiness clubs in my area instead of attending via the Virtual Club, with the International Happiness being my ultimate inspiration.
I love the newsletter and have shared it with the Happiness Club members. I am very excited!! Thank you for starting the Happiness Clubs - they are a true treasure! I truly appreciate your support and encouragement. Thank you again!!" Anissa Stein

HAPPINESS NOW LAUGHTER CLUB, SALEM, NEW HAMPSHIRE
Our first Happiness Now Laughter Club held on Tuesday, April 10th, was amazing! 16 people were there and left with the results of applying happiness in their lives. Here are just some of the feedback we received: Excellent, so glad I attended. * I had a great time last night at the Happiness Club and cannot wait until the next one. I am very fortunate to have a very high happiness set point and last night just added to it. * This is sad ....A 16 year old girl is dying of a very rare blood disorder and she came up to me, asked if she can talk to me, and shared her story. She was so happy she came and it truly helped her in every way. She is paying it forward and helping other children that is going through health challenges and will now incorporate Happiness and will return back next month! *
"What a blessing to have a group like this." *Life changing *Learned so much and will apply pause and living NOW. *I am so glad I came tonight, you have made a big difference in my life. Can't wait for next month. I am bringing more people with me.* Lyn-Dee & Mark are entertaining and their seminar is very educational and motivational, fun and uplifting. Attend the Happiness Now Laughter Club with Mark & Lyn-Dee Eldridge and experience an incredible evening of fun and learning about life's most important skills. We have seen people who never thought they would be happy ever in their lives achieve sustainable happiness and become inspirations for others as well.
Here are just a few of many areas we will be sharing...* Why it's important to focus on happiness. * How do you create happiness in your life. * How happiness increases health & longevity. * Why Laughter Meditation truly is the best medicine. When people leave the happiness club gatherings they are a lot happier then when they came and it is so rewarding to know that it only takes 2 hours of time once a month makes such a great impact on people's lives! Please RSVP quickly, space is limited. We can't wait for you to join us on our"Crusade to Inspire Happiness, Health & Longevity."

BROWARD CHRISTIAN HAPPINESS CLUB
After watching your programs and reading your materials for years, I finally decided to start a Happiness Club here in South Florida. I am on the Board of a new Spiritual Center called The Shepherd's Bridge with programs designed to help men and womenwho enjoy interfaith spiritual services, or who are in recovery, or are having to start life over again for any reason. Our club will use the Center here in Davie (Ft. Lauderdale area) which is Broward County. So to begin with, we have named it the Broward Christian Happiness Club.
We had our first meeting on Saturday, January 29th, 2011. The next meeting will be February 26th at 12:30.
Meetings are on the last Saturday of each month at 12:30 P.M.
Place: The Shepherd's Bridge, 5130 SW 64th Ave (Davie Rd),  Davie, Florida 33314 (954) 448-2946

LASTING JOY, MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA

Start Date: January 30, 2018, Meeting Frequency:Monthly, Dolly AIzenman will be the clubs facilitator.
Almost 20 years ago my husband and I founded a private school for children with special needs. Up until my retirement, I was its Academic Director. Since most parents of our students needed support, an important part of our program consisted of monthly parenting classes. In my work with parents, I have relied heavily on Rabbi Pliskin's books Gateway to Happiness, Anger!, and Life Is Now, as well as some material from his other books.
Why Dolly wants to start a club. "I was devastated after the loss of my father. I started a blog, so it's not like I wasn't busy, but I still felt empty, not needed. It started affecting my health, as I couldn't sleep and lost appetite, which was funny as I was running a food blog! I was miserable until a friend told me that I had to start giving to others, that only by giving one could create inner space to be filled with happiness again. I had known that, but sometimes it takes hearing it from another person to internalize it and take proactive steps. I am very excited about it now, adrenaline is pumping, and I feel I have found joy in life again but arranging to start this club."
"I have all Zelig Pliskin's books; I get a new one as soon as it appears. From many followers of my blog, I gather that the constitutional right to pursuit of happiness in many people's minds has transformed into the right to happiness. Thus, many feel acutely unhappy, even miserable, when happiness is not automatically granted to them without any effort on their part. I want to make them understand that there is no reason NOT to be happy, and they are certainly entitled to it, but they have to be proactive in their efforts. I hope to show them how to be proactive." It is withing the framework of this program that I am planning to start the Lasting Joy club that will initially encompass parents of the out-of school program participants, but most certainly will welcome anyone and everyone who desires to learn and practice techniques of achieving the state of happiness. Lasting Joy club will meet on the last Tuesday of every month at 5:00 PM at Chabad Chayil, 2601 NE 211th Terrace, Miami, FL 33180. For further information, please call (305) 770-1919 or e-mail Dr Dolly Aizenman at dolly.aizenman@yahoo.com.
Happy to report that our Lasting Joy club is growing and thriving. Here is link to our latest post:  latest post: https://lastingjoyclub.wordpress.com/2018/05/04/you-and-you-and-you/. Yours, Dolly https://www.amazon.com/author/koolkosherkitchen

CLUBS DE BONUEUR, MONTREAL, CANADA
Geneviève Tremblay and Marie Josée Boudreau are the club facilitators.
We had our first meeting Tuesday, March 6th. It was just G-R-E-A-T! Joyful and truthful, those are the two words that come to my mind to describe that moment shared together. We were only 8 this time, as it was Spring break, many were away. But I think next time, from the emails I got up to now, we will have much more. But the numbers we had has nothing to do with the success of that meeting: we all left enthusiast about living a great and fulfilling life. Next time, we were thinking of adding 30 minutes before the Happiness Club meeting to hold a Laughter Club meeting for those interested to get there earlier and live that experience. I am a laughter yoga leader too, so I thought, why not? It is so wonderful to laugh without any reason in group.
Our meetings will include the following:
1 - Presentation on the factors constituting the IRB (Indice relative du bonheur), a very interesting work of a fellow Quebecois, Pierre Côté who conduct an "observatory" on happiness (he surveyed over 43 000 people to know what happiness was all about). For more info: http://www.indicedebonheur.com/
2 - A circle of "sharing-listening", where we can experience what is like to truly listen and be listen. The focus is on sharing our experiences related to cultivating happiness.
3 - A "happiness challenge", bringing people to take and share a challenge they want to undertake for the next month. As a coach, I love to accompany people to challenge themselves to be happier right away (why do we need to wait any way!).
I also updated our website to be prepared to promote our new clubs that will be opening soon. I don't know if you read French, but it is at: http://www.bonheurenvrac.ca/index.php/clubs-de-bonheur.
I got myself inspired with my own experience of running a Laughter Club and coaching support groups to set up the "frame". As we go along the way, I will update with the experience we will be gaining."
